1) Given: 4x² - 32x = -28

First, divide 4 to both side to eliminate the "a" wich is 4.

4x² - 32x = -28 ÷ 4

x² - 8x = -7

Find the half of 8 and multiply it by itself to complete the statement. REMEMBER WHAT YOU DO TO THE LEFT SIDE YOU HAVE TO DO IT TO THE RIGHT SIDE:

x² - 8x + 16 = -7 + 16

x² - 8x + 16 = 9

Factor left side of the equation::

(x - 4)² = 9

Do a square root method:

√(x - 4)² = √9

x - 4 = ±√9

Add 4 to both side:

x - 4 + 4 = 4 ±√9

x = 4 ±√9

x = 4 ± 3

x = 4 + 3 or x = 4 - 3

Answer: x = 7 or x = 1
